As the son of Lord Verdauga Greeneyes, the cruel yet honorable warlord of Mossflower Woods, Gingivere could have easily played the part of a spoiled prince as cold and brutal as his father. Instead, he is a gentle pacifist: intelligent, soft-spoken, and always careful to avoid the battlefield. Yet his sweet and inoffensive nature cannot save him from betrayal by his own flesh and blood — Mossflower begins when his vicious sister Tsarmina poisons their father, frames Gingivere for the murder, and imprisons him unjustly for the crime.
